5th Annual Bill
Sutherland Institute for Africa Advocates
June 21- 22, 2008 at Howard University - In collaboration with the U.S. Social Forum
The Bill Sutherland Institute for Africa Advocates is a training event designed to improve activists, advocates, and educators’ abilities to change U.S. policies toward those that promote peace and justice in Africa.
The Institute is an outgrowth of the American Friends Service Committee Africa Initiative, and is inspired by the fifty years’, unofficial ambassadorship of Mr. Bill Sutherland, which has linked AFSC and its diverse constituencies. We seek to create an environment where basic skill training and issue analysis takes place.
The next great liberation movement will come from the same place the last one came from, and so many before it: from below. — James Goodman, scholar
